Many contract disputes arise not from difficult legal issues, but from drafting mistakes made under time pressure. Drawing on experience from complex contract negotiations and commercial projects, this session will explore how drafting errors occur, including inconsistent provisions, unclear formulas, untested assumptions, last-minute amendments and over-reliance on precedents.

Join our guest presenter, Amy Kelly, Special Counsel at Maddocks, for practical strategies in identifying, assessing and managing risks throughout the drafting process.

Participants will learn practical techniques for pressure-testing documents, managing instructions, maintaining effective records and communicating drafting risks to clients. The webinar will also discuss developing a stronger "risk radar" and why this can be more challenging in modern, flexible workplaces where opportunities for informal learning, supervision and observation may be less frequent.

This session is suitable for practitioners who draft, review or negotiate commercial contracts and want to strengthen their ability to spot and manage drafting risks, or practitioners who supervise.
